Kansas City Wins, 8-7, Over Imperials | The first-place Kansas City Kings took on the New York Imperials in front of a spirited crowd.
No one was more impactful than Ken Newman in the 8-7 Kansas City win over New York. Newman, who finished 4th in the CA in runs with 103 in 1955, went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Kansas City reliever Henry Henderson picked up the win, raising his record to 7-1. Eddie Webb was tagged with the loss.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Kansas City trailing 7-5, Newman hit a fastball from Eddie Webb for a 3-run home run, giving the Kings the walk-off win.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Newman told the Kansas City Observer.
The Kings have an impressive 46-23 record. | |
