| Kings Earn Clutch Win, 2-1 | The Seattle Kings picked up a win at Seattle Municipal Stadium, downing the New York Imperials, 2-1. On the mound for Seattle was left-hander Danny Anderson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Billy Collins earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. At 38-21, the Kings are currently first in the Continental Association West.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Ben Roberts came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Ed Cooper, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seattle on top, 2-1.
"We certainly don't want to get used to losing," said losing manager Jim Abernathy. | |
