| Sailors Need Extra Innings to Top Wolves, 6-5 | The Sailors grabbed a win, 6-5, at Golden Gate Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Toronto pitcher Phil Colantuono. Colantuono went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. The 'W' lifts San Francisco's record to 27-34.
The Sailors relied on third baseman Ernie Carter for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"I like the fight in this team," said Sailors manager Bob Harris.
