| Late Rally Gets 3-1 Win for Pioneers | In a low-scoring game between St. Louis and Pittsburgh, Steve Madden was fantastic. The Pioneers right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the FA with a 3.58 ERA, helped his team beat the Miners, 3-1, in 10 innings. After today's action, St. Louis sits at 52-33; Pittsburgh slips to 36-49.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for St. Louis. That's when Bob Bell hit a 2-run home run off 23-year old second baseman Frank Maxwell to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Pioneers manager Lou Ormsby.
