| Minutemen Deal Comets 5-0 Loss | At Dalton Domed Stadium, the Houston Comets and Boston Minutemen were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Behind an impressive start by Ken West, Boston beat Houston, 5-0. West got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed no runs.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Dick Ward? The Boston center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Minutemen on top, 3-0. For the game, Ward had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Ward.
The second-place Minutemen bumped their record to 31-26.
