Red-Hot Suns Win Again
The Los Angeles Suns had to overcome a big game from Washington shortstop Al Marino to leave Columbia Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-4. Marino went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times. Heinie Schmidt, the winner, goes to 6-3. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts over 7 innings. The Suns raised their record to 35-20.

It could have been a different outcome for Los Angeles, had it not been for Sam Forrester, the 1973 FA home run champion . Forrester contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-0.

"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Los Angeles manager Jim Coulter.
