| Comets Knock Off Minutemen, 1-0 | Joe McCarthy, who leads the FA with a 0.97 WHIP, never let the Minutemen get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Comets to a win, 1-0. The second-place Comets are 32-23.
The Minutemen had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Comets going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the fan favorite Jerry Robinson came to the plate. Robinson hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 knuckle curve from Boston hurler Richie Thornton. It was Robinson's 5th double of the year.
"Scoring was at a premium tonight," McCarthy said.
