| Kings Drop Wolves, 5-0 | Swede Hawkins, who is the 1973 Allen Award winner, never let the Wolves get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Kings to a win, 5-0. Hawkins got the win, improving to 7-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Today's win puts Seattle at 35-21, while Toronto falls to 26-28.
Seattle second baseman Sam Barnes helped the Kings go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Barnes hit a run-scoring single off Toronto pitcher Ray Eddy.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Hawkins. | |
