Loss Tarnishes Fine Effort by Howe
The Cleveland Foresters could not turn a fine performance from center fielder Earl Howe into a win. Instead, the Los Angeles Stars prevailed, 8-7. Howe was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Los Angeles reliever Jim Drake snagged the win, upping his record to 1-3. Jake Pearson shouldered the loss. Los Angeles, at 49-32, holds down second place in the Continental Association.

Lou Allen's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 3rd and the game tied, 6-6. The Los Angeles center fielder hit a run-scoring single off Jake Pearson to put the Stars up.

"I love to hit," said Allen. "As long as I keep loving it, the game's going to love me back."
