Suns Earn 7-5 Win Against Miners
The Los Angeles Suns weathered a fine game by Pittsburgh left fielder Mike Whisman to upend the Miners, 7-5, at Fitzpatrick Park. Whisman was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Frank Carey was credited with the save, his 9th in 10 tries. The losses continue to pile up for Pittsburgh, which has now fallen 9 times in a row.

Los Angeles used a timely hit from Mickey McClure to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Suns ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"Feels good to be on the winning side," said McClure.
