Boston Wins, 4-3, Over Pioneers
The Boston Minutemen topped the St. Louis Pioneers, 4-3, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Boston pitcher Hank Springer. Reliever Bud Shireman picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Eddie Davis took the loss. Harry Draper closed it out for his 2nd save.

Bruce Hunt drew 1 walk for Boston. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Eddie Davis. It was his 2nd walk of the season.

"You can never predict what'll happen," Springer said. "That's why you play the game."

Boston, at 30-24, occupies second place in the Federal Association East.
