| Minneapolis Tacks 7-5 Loss on New York | The Minneapolis Millers trumped the New York Gothams, 7-5, at Hennepin County Stadium. Minneapolis center fielder Bill Powell was terrific. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Ben Baird, who finished 5th in the FA in saves with 21 last year, earned the save for Minneapolis. Minneapolis, now 27-28, holds down 4th place in the Federal Association West.
Bill Barber, who is tied for 2nd in the FA in doubles with 17, helped out the Minneapolis cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the shortstop was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Powell told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
