Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Imperials | Thanks in large part to third baseman Walt Bantle, the New York Imperials beat the Toronto Wolves, 5-3. Bantle was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. New York currently is in 9th place in the Continental Association at 23-41.
New York relied on the hitting of Vern Reynolds to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Imperials on top, 5-3. For the game, Reynolds had 1 triple and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
Reynolds told a New York Herald reporter that he was "gratified" with the win. | |
