Win Lifts Sailors to 35-29 | The Cleveland Foresters and San Francisco Sailors left the fans buzzing.
San Francisco Sailors pitcher Charlie Lawson was in fine form, leading his team past the Cleveland Foresters, 6-1. The winner was Lawson. He threw 8.1 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Sibby Smith.
Art Johnson had a big grand slam home run for the Sailors in the bottom of the first inning. With San Francisco leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Sibby Smith and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Sailors on top, 6-0.
Johnson attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
San Francisco raised its record to 35-29 with the win. | |
