Pittsburgh Drops Another One, 2-1
The Washington Eagles eked out a 2-1 win versus the Pittsburgh Miners at Columbia Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Otto Caudill. He was terrific. Caudill got the win, improving to 12-7. He gave up 1 hit and walked 5 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. The losing streak for Pittsburgh has now reached 6 games.

The Eagles got a big at-bat from first baseman George Whaley. For the game, Whaley went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Washington a 1-0 lead.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Harry Barrell.
