The Houston Comets rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Jay Hunt to a win, beating the Boston Minutemen, 2-0, at Minuteman Stadium. With the win, Houston upped its record to 30-25.

The Comets had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 2-0, Houston, with no one out. Boston, with the bases empty, was mounting a threat. Jim Morton dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he grounded out.
