| Saints Win at Chicago, 6-5 | The Montreal Saints turned back the Chicago Chiefs, 6-5, at Whitney Park. Ed Carpenter, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2 for 2 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 times. Bill Eshleman, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. With the loss, Chicago is 9-10.
Montreal used the timely hitting of Jack Montgomery to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Saints on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Carpenter told the Montreal Daily.
