Boston and New York took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Boston pitcher Austin Mayer did his part in helping his team beat the New York Stars, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Mayer, now 1-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Wayne Moses had a game-changing hit. The Beacons left fielder slammed a 2-run single off John Ralph, making the score 5-1, Boston.

"It never gets old," said Moses. "Winning, that is."

With the loss, New York drops to 0-2.
