Eagles Beat Pittsburgh, 8-7
The Washington Eagles downed the Pittsburgh Miners, 8-7, at Columbia Stadium. The Eagles were led by Ralph Weatherbee. Weatherbee went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win puts Washington at 7-6.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Washington trailing 7-6, Jack Thompson hit a curveball from Hank Cook to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Eagles had a walk-off win.

"This game had its share of tense moments," Weatherbee said, postgame.
