Getting an impressive start from Jim Place, Los Angeles beat Chicago by the score of 7-1. The Chiefs drop to 4-8, as their stumbling start to the 1974 season continues.

Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Bill Perry to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Suns on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Jim gave us everything he had," said Los Angeles manager Jim Coulter.
