Late Rally by Gothams Locks Up 1-0 Win | The New York Gothams got a magnificent effort from pitcher Les Freedman, who kept Minneapolis hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Gothams win at Gotham Stadium. John Herzog notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-0. To call the performance of the 1963 Millers subpar is an understatement.
The Gothams got a clutch hit from left fielder Joe Anderson. In the bottom of the ninth, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Gothams.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Minneapolis manager Frank Vance. | |
