| Minutemen Deal Keystones 7-3 Defeat | Boston pitcher Richie Thornton did his part in helping his team beat the Philadelphia Keystones, 7-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Thornton got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The Keystones fall to 4-7 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1974 season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Charlie Hartsell? The Boston second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Minutemen on top, 2-0. For the game, Hartsell had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Thornton. | |
