The New York Gothams weathered a fine game by Philadelphia center fielder Fred Hamm to upend the Keystones, 7-5, at Bigsby Oval II. Hamm was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jack Pette went 8 innings, allowing 5 runs on 13 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the FL in complete games with 2, struck out 4 and walked 3. With the win, he's now 4-0 this season. The Gothams, now 11-4, have been on fire in the early going.

Ron Thiel hit a 2-run double off Ray Smith in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Gothams in front, 5-3. In addition to the double, Thiel had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said New York manager Bob Kuhl.
