| Suns Get Hard-Earned Win | The Los Angeles Suns used a stellar performance from pitcher Heinie Schmidt to throttle the Washington offense en route to an extra-inning, 1-0 win at Wilshire Park. Los Angeles pitcher Jack Meeks got the win. He's now 2-3. Roy McDonald was tagged with the loss. With the win, Los Angeles pushed its record to 30-20.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Los Angeles. That's when Tom Lally hit a solo home run off 31-year old right-handed pitcher Roy McDonald to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
During his postgame press conference, Suns manager Jim Coulter told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
