| Gothams Rally Late to Clip St. Louis | The Gothams grabbed a win, 3-2, at Pioneer Field III, overcoming a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher Charlie Blake. Blake went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Chet Stansbury picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 9-9. Earning his 17th save for New York was Bill Howard.
New York needed the clutch hitting of Joe Anderson to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Gothams on top, 3-2. For the game, Anderson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said St. Louis manager Lou Ormsby.
With the win, New York goes to 57-66, while the Pioneers fall to 79-44.
