Gothams Take Down Chiefs, 8-6
The New York Gothams and Chicago Chiefs put on quite a show.

The New York Gothams spoiled a good performance by Chicago shortstop Rankin Ziegler, bumping off Chicago, 8-6, at Whitney Park. Ziegler went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. New York reliever Charlie French was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Frank Carmichael took the loss.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Tommy Allen was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Gothams to go in front, 7-6.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Allen. "I like it."

The Chiefs, now 26-28, have lost 4 straight.
