Foresters Chop Down Sailors, 6-2 | The Cleveland Foresters rode a solid performance from 30-year-old starting pitcher Jake Pearson to a win, beating the San Francisco Sailors, 6-2, at Forester Stadium. In 7 innings, Pearson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. The Foresters improved to 48-29.
The Foresters got an important contribution from third baseman Cecil Cummings, who in the bottom of the sixth knocked a 1-1 fastball to left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Foresters ahead, 4-2.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead. "Our pregame was pretty good." | |
