| Miners Score Late to Win, 6-4 | The rain came, as predicted, but the Pittsburgh Miners and New York Gothams were able to complete their ballgame.
The Pittsburgh Miners picked up a win at Fitzpatrick Park, taking down the New York Gothams, 6-4. Starting pitcher Pat Simon was a big reason why. Manny Espinosa got credit for the save for Pittsburgh. It was his 9th of the year.
Pittsburgh took a 6-4 lead on John Moreland's 10th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Moreland hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Bill Howard visibly frustrated.
"We had a good game plan," Simon said, "and we were able to execute it."
The victory gives Pittsburgh a record of 30-28.
