| Saints Defeat Kings, 4-2 | Montreal turned a fine outing from starter Jose Martinez into a victory over the Seattle Kings at Stade Montreal. The final score was 4-2. Martinez yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-4. Miguel Hernandez picked up the save for Montreal, his 7th of the year.
Ken Steinbach had a clutch at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Saints. Coming up with the bases loaded and Montreal trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Martinez.
The last-place Saints now have a record of 20-28. | |
