| Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Owls, 3-2 | Game 5 was big. So was Takamitsu Fujiwara.
In leading Kyoto to a crucial 3-2 victory over the Kobe Bulls at Owls Park, the Kyoto starter rose to the occasion, tossing 6.1 good innings. Fujiwara threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs as the Owls defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 BAN Championship Series.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tensui Kato in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off nine-time All-Star Shiroku Terada to win the game for Kyoto. The home crowd went nuts.
"The crowd was juiced," said Kato.
Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Matsunoki Stadium in Kobe.
