| Raucous Seattle Municipal Stadium Crowd Propels Kings to 6-2 Victory; Series Tied at 1 | Behind a bravura effort from starter John Howell, the Seattle Kings topped the Atlanta Copperheads by the score of 6-2 and got their first win in the 1974 World Championship Series. Howell threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the Kings. The win moves Seattle into a 1-1 tie with Atlanta.
Had Fred Tollefson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Tollefson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Kings.
"We lost," Atlanta manager Don Fox said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 13th , 1974 at Peachtree Stadium in Atlanta.
