Thurman Blasts Copperheads, Suns Take Game 1, 15-5
The Los Angeles Suns started the Association Championship Series in style, winning on the road against the Atlanta Copperheads at Peachtree Stadium by a score of 15-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Suns left fielder Jim Thurman excelled. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5.

With two out in the top of the third, Bill Perry barreled up a sinker from Howie Burt. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Suns in front, 5-0.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Los Angeles manager Jim Coulter.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Peachtree Stadium in Atlanta.
