| Saints Need Extra Innings to Top Sailors, 3-2 | The Montreal Saints and San Francisco Sailors rewarded fans hoping for a nail-biter.
The Montreal Saints picked up a win at Stade Montreal, knocking off the San Francisco Sailors, 3-2, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Tommy Jackson played a key role in the triumph. Montreal reliever Bill Richards picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Ralph Pierce was saddled with the loss.
The Saints got a clutch hit from second baseman Dixie Turner. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Saints.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Jackson.
The Saints improved their record to 23-28 by beating San Francisco. | |
