Sailors Win, 4-3, in Extra Frames | The Chicago Cougars got a superb performance from pitcher Bob Allen, but the San Francisco Sailors still won the game, 4-3. Allen threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball. San Francisco reliever Davey Chamberlain picked up the win to move to 1-0. Earle Turner suffered the loss. The win brings the Sailors to 7-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
The Sailors got a clutch hit from second baseman Heinie Spitler. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Sailors.
