| Gothams Get Better of Chiefs, 5-4 | New York third baseman Tommy Allen had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Chicago Chiefs, 5-4. The winning pitcher was Harry Hayward. He tossed 103 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Jeff Pettigrew earned the save for New York, his 9th.
The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth. That's when Allen hit a grand slam home run off Larry Barker. It propelled the Gothams into the lead, 4-0.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Allen told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
