Millers Earn Late Win
The Minneapolis Millers picked up a win at Hennepin County Stadium, topping the St. Louis Pioneers, 4-3. On the mound for Minneapolis was right-hander Bill Smith. He played a principal role in the triumph. Bobby Crooks came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 7-6. The win has Minneapolis at 45-73.

Minneapolis took a 4-3 lead on Don Coe's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Coe hit in the bottom of the eighth, left St. Louis pitcher John Gibson visibly frustrated.

Minneapolis manager Frank Vance praised his team's "energy."
