Loss Diminishes Fine Performance by Gregg
The Chicago Chiefs weathered an outstanding game by Detroit left fielder Cecil Gregg to topple the Dynamos, 13-11. Gregg went 4-5 with 3 doubles and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Paul Magee, the winner, goes to 5-0. He allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts over 6 innings. The second-place Chiefs improved to 40-30.

The Chiefs got a big hit from pitcher Paul Magee. Facing Detroit pitcher John Jackson in the top of the fifth, Magee pounded a bases-clearing double to center. His 1st double of the season put the Chiefs ahead, 8-3.

Detroit manager Verlin Alexander expressed his frustration after the game: "That many runs and it still wasn't enough?"
