| Pioneers Handle Minutemen, Nab 5-2 Win | Boston wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Johnny Baylor, falling to the St. Louis Pioneers, 5-2. Baylor threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Lloyd Ethridge earned the save for St. Louis, his 2nd. St. Louis occupies third place in the Federal Association West at 27-21.
John Richards, the St. Louis first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 3-2, Pioneers. For the game, Richards was 2-4 with 2 singles.
