| In 10, Houston Beats Philadelphia, 4-3 | The Houston Comets wiggled past the Philadelphia Keystones, 4-3, at Liberty Coliseum. The win was highlighted by the performance of Houston pitcher Pete Jones. The winner was Don Lincoln in relief. His record improves to 2-0. George Britton took the loss. Houston is now 28-24, Philadelphia 19-27.
Houston needed the clutch hitting of Johnny Adams to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Comets on top, 4-3. For the game, Adams had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"There's no quit in this team," said Comets manager Glenn Carney. | |
