New York pitcher Joe Nelson had a large part in his team subduing the Detroit Dynamos, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The Gothams now own a record of 21-25.

Rich Peterson was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Gothams third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
