| Higgins Pitches 4-0 Shutout for Kansas City | The New York Imperials struggled at the plate against Kings hurler Johnnie Higgins, who shackled them on 4 hits while hurling a complete-game 4-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Imperials skipper Bud Jameson in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Higgins finished the game with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," Kansas City manager Glenn Carney said. "Johnnie made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
In 11 starts this season, Higgins has rung up a 5-3 record and a 3.12 ERA. | |
