| Minneapolis Beaten, 7-2, by New York | Minneapolis got a big-time effort from pitcher Pete Jones, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York Gothams from winning the game, 7-2. Jones threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Jeff Pettigrew closed out the game, earning his 8th save. New York has a record of 23-23, placing them 4th in the Federal Association East.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Bill Arndt came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Minneapolis pitcher Ben Baird, he hit a full count cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 3-2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said New York manager Charlie Foley.
