Gothams Win with Late Heroics
Despite a great performance by Detroit first baseman Lou Strader, the New York Gothams defeated the Dynamos by the score of 7-6 in 10 innings at Gotham Stadium. Strader went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. New York reliever Jeff Pettigrew picked up the win, upping his record to 1-6. Bud Dixon was saddled with the loss. The defeat makes Detroit 26-23.

The Gothams got a clutch hit from first baseman Paul Church. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Gothams.

"These kind of wins can be so good for a club's psyche," New York manager Charlie Foley said.
