Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Los Angeles Suns and Minneapolis Millers.

The Los Angeles Suns weathered an outstanding game by Minneapolis shortstop Cecil Cummings to topple the Millers, 7-4. Cummings belted 2 home runs. Paul Debo picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-10. He struck out 5 in 8 innings. Frank Carey earned his 7th save in 8 tries.

In the bottom of the sixth, Andy Hervey delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Los Angeles center fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Suns in front, 7-4.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hervey told a Los Angeles Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The defeat makes Minneapolis 41-71.
