Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Pioneers
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the St. Louis Pioneers and Minneapolis Millers.

Steve Madden, who is tied for 3rd in the FA in complete games with 5, had a strong outing for the St. Louis Pioneers against the Minneapolis Millers at Hennepin County Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. John Gibson closed it out for St. Louis, earning his 12th save.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Sam Ruggles to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pioneers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Madden told the St. Louis Today.

The Federal Association-leading Pioneers are 37-15.
