The Boston Minutemen beat the Detroit Dynamos, 4-2. Boston pitcher and Murfreesboro, Tennessee, native Don Griffin led the way. Bob Hollister closed the door for Boston, picking up his 5th save of the year. The Minutemen now have a record of 49-61 with the win over Detroit.

The Minutemen had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 4-2, Boston, with no one out. Detroit, with the bases empty, was mounting a threat. Ed MacNaughton dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he grounded out.
