| Stars Spill Cannons, 2-1 | In a tight tilt between the Los Angeles Stars and the Cincinnati Cannons, John Green was the deciding factor. The Los Angeles left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Green, now 4-3. He tossed 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Picking up his 1st save was 33-year old right-handed pitcher Vean Conrad.
Ralph Barrell, who finished 4th in the CA in runs with 106 in 1971, had a direct impact on the outcome. Barrell contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Los Angeles up, 1-0.
"Makes our job easier," said Barrell, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
After today's action, Los Angeles sits at 26-23; Cincinnati slips to 20-27. | |
