Los Angeles turned a good effort from starter Jim Place into a win over the Baltimore Clippers at Wilshire Park. The Suns won the game, 4-1. Ron Clark earned save number 14 this season. Los Angeles, at 30-17, is 4½ games up in the Federal Association West.

Los Angeles took a 3-0 lead on Place's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Jose Martinez in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Los Angeles to the win.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Place.
