| Copperheads Stumble, Lose to Chiefs | The Chicago Chiefs beat the Atlanta Copperheads, 8-1, at Whitney Park. Starting pitcher Troy Myers was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Myers yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-3. With the win, Chicago upped its record to 26-24.
Ricardo Castillo had a big 3-run home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the first inning. With Chicago leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a cutter from Harry Inge, who is tied for 5th in the FA with a 2.43 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Chiefs on top, 5-1.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Castillo. | |
