| Red-Hot Dynamos Win Again | Detroit beat Chicago in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Detroit Dynamos starter Earl Shields was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Chicago Chiefs, 4-1. Shields picked up the win for Detroit, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 8-6. Howie French collected his 2nd save.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the sixth inning, but Shields was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Chicago trailing 2-0, Shields retired Joe Siniscalchi, who struck out.
The Chiefs, at 52-57, have lost 4 straight games.
