| Houston Dealt 4-1 Defeat | At Dalton Domed Stadium, the Houston Comets and Detroit Dynamos were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Jack Williams pitched a gem to lead Detroit to victory over the Houston Comets, 4-1. Williams, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Beau McClellan sewed up the save, his 4th.
Jack Lucas dealt the Comets a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Detroit leading 1-0, Lucas, who led the FA in batting average with .318 in 1966, hit a 1-2 fastball for a 2-run single.
"We won," Williams told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
The 5th-place Dynamos now sit at 17-27.
