Imperials Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Kings, 4-2 | New York turned a good effort from starter Frank Williams into a win over the Kansas City Kings at Dyckman Stadium. The Imperials won the game, 4-2. New York pitcher Glenn Webb earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Beau McClellan suffered the loss. Eddie Webb wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Turk Ramsey came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Kansas City pitcher Del Lamb, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 3-2.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said New York skipper Bud Jameson. "I can't complain."
The loss has the Kings at 0-1. | |
