Pioneers Get Past Pittsburgh, 6-5
Despite a great performance by Pittsburgh center fielder Roy McGee, the St. Louis Pioneers defeated the Miners by the score of 6-5 at Pioneer Field III. McGee went 2 for 3 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Frenchy Mack, the winning pitcher, is now 17-4. He went 8 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 10 and walking 3. St. Louis improves to 73-36 with the win. They lead their division by 7 games.

Burlington, Iowa-born Danny Davis came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Pioneers trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to left-center to put St. Louis on top.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Davis told the St. Louis Daily.
