No one was more impactful than Walt Denny in the 9-4 New York win over Cincinnati. Denny, who leads the CA in triples with 6, was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Johnny Britton picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 5 in 7 innings. The save went to Glenn Webb, number 5 for him.

Delos Smith's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for New York. Coming to bat with one out, runners on 1st and 2nd and New York trailing 4-1, the shortstop hit a run-scoring single.

Said Cincinnati manager Hal Upton: "They did a lot of things right. We did a lot of things wrong."

The win has New York at 19-34.
