| Chicago Rallies to 7-3 Win | The Chicago Cougars defeated the Kansas City Mavericks, 7-3, in 11 innings. Much of the credit belonged to catcher Charlie Sanders, who was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Cougars. The win was credited to Bill Scott in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Johnny Manning took the loss. The 5th-place Cougars go to 20-27.
Sanders delivered in the clutch for Chicago. In the bottom of the 11th, he took a 0-2 slider from Kansas City pitcher Clay Buddemeyer and parked it over the fence. The grand slam home run won it for Chicago.
"We busted our humps out there," said Sanders. | |
