Minutemen Use Late Surge to Win
Boston shortstop Joe Kleman helped his team beat the Chicago Chiefs, 8-3. Kleman, the 11th overall pick in the 1948 draft, went 3 for 5 for the Minutemen. Boston is 8th in the Federal Association with a record of 46-60.

Boston needed the clutch hitting of Bill Duckworth to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Minutemen on top, 5-3. For the game, Duckworth had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Duckworth said.
